Internet-less

New Miri house = no phone line yet = no streamyx yet = blog will not be updated for a while.

I am home in KK.

But I would rather sleep and eat (everything I love and miss.. Yummm... ;P) than to update my blog.

Brunei Land Rig 8 March 07

I look like Little Red Riding Hood gone wrong...

How come no one told me my hard hat was crooked... And the green colour... Err...

Everyone sing with me now!

I'm a little (RED) teapot, short and fat...

The 'weird' tag

piffles tagged me a while back, thought it's about time i get on with it...

*copy and paste from piffles blog*
These are the rules: Each player of this game starts out by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog!

  1. i don't like to eat vege with no 'heart', i.e. empty stems, i.e kangkung, sawi.
  2. i am against killing of small insects unless it is justified. small bugs land in my food, not justified. mosquitoes biting me, justified.
  3. i am one of those people who will not order shark fin, but will eat if it's too late, i.e. served in front of me.
  4. i hate working under the sun getting all dark. some one said i looked like a filipino once. but i don't mind getting tanned on holiday. talk about double standards.
  5. i don't own a single pair of flat heeled shoes besides my safety boots and sneakers. because i am short and without heels i feel even shorter...
  6. i love cats, but i have 2 dogs instead at home.
  7. i like to eat bitter gourd.
  8. my toe nails are so small the only time i had a pedicure, the manicurist (or do you call them pedicurist) commented she couldn't paint them properly.
  9. i can't drink coffee or tea after 2 pm or i won't be able to sleep at night. chinese tea is fine though...
  10. i can't whistle properly, kind of 'lau huang'.
and i tag:
1. bineus
2. Liz, when you actually get around to reading my blog
3. Jaim, when you actually get around to reading my blog too
4. Yaone. Yes, you too since you blog.
5. bineus
6. bineus

Miri town, the sights and food...

Just spent my first full week in Miri, work has been slow. I mean, I can't count reading company policies and training modules on how to use the online HR system as proper work now, can I? Come tomorrow, I can finally start to do some REAL work, got a few stuff handed over to me by my team already. Weee!!! It's a pain sitting around people who are working hard and having nothing really to do myself.

Hopped over to Brunei on Thursday with my team to visit a working land rig, T201. My first time wearing coveralls, and I just look like Little Red Riding Hood gone wrong. And I feel like a astronaut. Hahaha..

Just a few pics to show what I have been up to the past week. Excuse the bad photography, its all taken with my handphone camera.

And may I add, low resolution handphone camera.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream galore in a supermarket called
Super Save (or something like lar) just across the border.
A little heaven for imported stuff. Looks like I will be doing my
shopping there pretty often.

Miri at night, taken from the Grand Old Lady.

Miri by day, taken from the Grand Old Lady
(yes, I am very free, can go there both day and night, on the same day)

Not bad seafood at a place generally called Tanjung.

Nasi Goreng at Sultanah's. The rice is Bario rice. Supposed to be softer
and more fragrant but well, with fried rice, a bit hard to tell...

Coffee Bean within the SSB main building. I know, wth..

Bak kut teh at Krokop area. The photo is not very
flattering but it really is pretty good stuff.

New Job, New 'Home'

I finally reported to work at SSB, Miri on March 1st! After almost 5 months after receiving my offer letter. I know, I am very slack... Most people can't wait to be in my place now. Hahaha...

And... three days later. Now, I am...

back at home now again... Muahahaha... AirAsia + Chap Goh Meh = must come back.

It's good to start over again. New boss, new work, new colleagues, new friends, new house (well, gonna be new house/room, when I find it...).

Change is good. It forces me to make more effort at a lot of things.

To make more effort at making new friends.

To make more effort to learn new things. (at least now I know what casings, tubes and mud meant in O&G jargon. I'm stupid with regards to O&G, so continue laughing.)

To make more effort at finding something I can be really good at. (Jill of all trades. Master of none. That's me)

Colleagues are very nice and friendly. Seems to be an overall very happy bunch. Boss seems to be very nice too. So far so good...

my work station
